Research. Teaching. Shaping Society
"Wissenschaft und Forschung Wuf GmbH" is a subsidiary company of the "Evangelisch-Lutherisches Diakoniewerk Neuendettelsau K.d.ö.R." creating knowledge in the field of health and care and is the legal operator of Wilhelm Löhe Hochschule and the Research Institute IDC.
The Diakonie Neuendettelsau is the oldest diaconic Institution in Bavaria.
Founded by the Reverend Wilhelm Löhe in 1854 as an institute for deaconesses, the Diakonie Neuendettelsau is one of today’s major independent Christian institutions for social welfare work in Germany and the biggest such enterprise in Bavaria. More than 6.500 employees at numerous institutions in Neuendettelsau and other regions all over Southern Germany and in other European countries take care of the people they are responsible for.
"Shaping lives", the motto of the Diakonie Neuendettelsau, is translated into action in many fields of work: "Shaping lives" means providing a home, work and support for disabled people of all ages. Elderly people are taken care of in housing or nursing facilities and in assisted living groups. Nurses from Neuendettelsau are working for nursing service stations all over Bavaria. Three renowned hospitals make an essential contribution to the medical care in the region. The original education of the deaconesses has developed into a complex school system within the Evangelical Church in Germany (EKD). Thirty schools for general and vocational education offer future prospects to numerous young people.
